HELB CEO Charles Ringera has revealed that students without smart cards will not get any amount of money from the Higher Education Loans Board from September.

Those joining the various universities across the country were supposed to meet that minimum requirement to get any form of financial assistance from the Board.

Ringera noted that the cards will help eliminate errors experienced in the past as well as allow the disbursement of loans on time.

“If you will not have the smart card, you will not get funding come September. We want to eliminate experiences where vice-chancellors and deans of students release conflicting lists of beneficiaries making our work hard, creating unnecessary pressure and in some cases causing money sent to bank accounts to bounce," he told students at Anniversary Towers in Nairobi.

The loans body has been in support of the needy students through the giving out of loans in various amounts to pay part of the fee as well as meet other financial requirements.

The repayment is due after you complete or are done with studies but there are provisions that you pay when you feel like at any time of your schooling.
