Speaking at the burial of former Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama’s aunt, Christine Kalinzoya at Tala in Machakos County on Thursday, both Kalonzo and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga said they will not relent in backing President Uhuru Kenyatta in the fight against the graft.

“Corruption and plunder of public resources has become widespread in the country, which is why most Kenyans remain poor. We have agreed with President Uhuru Kenyatta that we must tackle and deal with it at any cost,” Raila said.

This comes days after President Kenyatta said he has lost friends because of his commitment to fighting graft in the country.

“I have lost close friends over the war on corruption. We must be ready to lose friends and do what is right in the eyes of God,” said the President at the Faith Evangelistic Ministry (FEM) Church in Karen, Nairobi.

Alonzo said the president should release names of the leaders involved in corrupt dealings who have been pressurizing him through phone calls for him to go slow on the fight.

"Disclose the names and let themgoviralon WhatsApp groups. These Kenyans are behind you, they will fight for you," Kalonzo told the president.

The fight against leaders behind corruption has continued to elicit mixed reactions from different factions.

The call for public officers’ lifestyle audit met resistance from a number of leaders with some saying it was targeting Deputy President William Ruto.
