Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has expressed his gratitude to President Uhuru Kenyatta for authorising the disbursement of funds under the Presidential Secondary Schools Bursary Scheme.
In a Facebook post on Friday, the outspoken ODM legislator revealed that he had reached out to the president on behalf of his constituents.
The office of the president obliged, and the money will be channeled towards the education of needy students with fee arrears.
"With this in mind, I reached out to the Presidency in an effort to widen and deepen my education agenda for Embakasi East residents.I take this opportunity to thank the President for his generous cooperation in this regard.
"His Excellency’s office has authorized the disbursement of significant scholarships under the Presidential Secondary Schools Bursary Scheme for our youth.This Presidential Scholarship will see various needy students from Embakasi East get the chance to complete their high school education.
"On behalf of the beneficiary families, I would like to thank H. E Uhuru Kenyatta for this grant as we continue to work together to deliver a better life for Kenyans!" he posted on Facebook.
Babu Owino reiterated his commitment towards ensuring that students from poor backgrounds get education by securing them bursaries.
The funds from the presidential bursary scheme go towards funding the education of vulnerable and needy children across the country.
