The death toll in Monday's deadly accident along Kisii-Nyamira road has hit three with another top county official succumbing to head injuries at Tenwek Hospital.

A motorbike rider and a saloon car driver died on spot when the car reportedly lost control and collided with an oncoming canter according to County Police Commander Hassan Osman.

"The saloon car lost control and collided with a canter carrying tea leaves. We lost the driver of the car and a bodaboda rider on the spot due to excessive bleeding," he said, adding that the bodies of deceased were ferried to Nyamira County Hospital.

Top County Assembly of Nyamira officials identified the driver of the car as Enock Nyakundi, Deputy Director Human Resource in the assembly, with director legal services David Ombego describing him as a diligent worker.

"We have lost our deputy director Human Resource Mr Enock Nyakundi. He was a diligent officer and this is a huge loss to the assembly," Mr Ombego said.

And Mr Morara Nyatuka, a ward administrator in the County Government of Nyamira, died on his way to Tenwek Hospital where he was to receive further treatment.

His brother, Raphael Nyatuka confirmed the sad news, adding that the loss was detrimental not only to the family but also to the county government.

"Folks my brother Morara did not make it. He was pronounced death upon arriving at Tenwek Hospital. We thank you all for prayers since morning," he said, adding that burial arrangements will be communicated later.
