Twenty students from Kirobon Girls Secondary and five from Njoro Girls High school in Nakuru County were on Tuesday arraigned in a Nakuru court, a day after their arrest, following burning down two dormitories in the two schools.
The students who appeared before Principal Magistrate Bernard Mararo pleaded not guilty of being involved in masterminding the act that has seen more than 400 students lose their properties in the two schools.
The students were arrested on Monday and locked at Njoro police station and Menengai Police station.
The Prosecution had sought more time to investigate the matter which was objected by the lawyer to the accused on the basis that it is against the law to keep the girls in the cells for another five days considering that they are underage.
Principal Magistrate Mararo released them on a Ksh50,000 bond each and ordered they be presented to the court on March 29.
Mararo further ordered that the be presenting themselves at Njoro and Menengai Police Stations every day at 8 am.
The court procedure comes a day after Rongai Member of Parliament Raymond Moi said that the parents must be held liable of rebuilding the burnt dormitories for the purpose of warning those who might have the same mentality in the coming days.
