Kilonzo Junior said the public should be on high alert to avoid being duped by the fraudsters.

He claimed the fraudsters have created several Facebook accounts which they use to unlawfully solicit for money.

“My account has been drawn to several pseudo accounts on Facebook to solicit funds from members of the public disguising as the Makueni senator," Kilonzo Junior posted on his Facebook account on Tuesday.

The senator said the account is fake, noting that at no point he and his staff seek financial assistance from members of the public.

He said the public should report to the nearest police station anyone who will call asking for money on his behalf.

Cases of fraudsters using names of politicians to solicit for money on social media have been reported before.

The fraudsters create pseudo names and campaigns in names of prominent politicians to dupe and get money from unsuspecting members of the public

Early this month Deputy President William Ruto’s wife, Rachel Ruto reported that scammers on social media were using her details to solicit for money in a fake free vehicle competition.
