The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji is this week camping in Lamu County in what he says is an initiative to engage in dialogue with residents on matters of judicial service.
On Monday, Haji launched the long week 'All for Justice' service week at Mkunguni grounds in Lamu.
The DPP who is the company of the Director of Criminal Investigation (DCI) George Kinoti, judges and senior officials in the justice sector aims to use the dialogue forums with residents to expedite judicial proceedings.
According to Haji, the service week will see petty offenders released from prisons.
Haji further says the service week dialogue seeks to educate residents on alternative approaches to judicial proceedings.
The DPP also argues that the service week seeks to empower the people to know their constitutional and human rights.
"Our key focus is to expedite judicial proceedings and we are partnering with agencies like Judiciary to expedite cases," he said.
The DPP said that judicial actors need to work together in ensuring speedy justice.
Haji is further pushing for plea bargaining as a strategy against organized crime and graft.
"Plea bargaining is our key area of focus as we intensify the war against corruption," he added.
The DPP says that the service week will be launched in other parts of the country.
Haji's office has been lauded in the renewed fight against crime and graft.
