A section of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leadership on Saturday pitched camp in Ugenya constituency, Siaya County, ahead of the looming by election.

The team was led by party Secretary General Edwin Sifuna, National Chair John Mbadi and Deputy Secretary General Agnes Zani.

The trio teamed up with a section of area leaders in drumming up support for area MP Chris Karan ahead of the rerun.

The campaigns began with a delegates meeting and later a mini rally in Ukwala, as the party seeks to retain the seat following Karan's August 2017 election was annulled by court last year.

Present leaders also used the opportunity to weigh in on the latest political happenings in the nation, calling upon President Uhuru Kenyatta to go deeper in his graft purge.

Other leaders present included Siaya Senator James Orengo who has been leading the campaigns, Karan. and Uriri MP Mark Nyamita.

"The ODM brigade led by Senator James Orengo and Secretary General Edwin Sifuna today led campaigns in Ugenya that started with a party delegates meeting and a mini rally in Ukwala," the party wrote on its Facebook page.

"The leaders told President Uhuru Kenyatta not to relent in his war, stating he should go for all who are involved in corruption," further reads the statement.

Other leaders in attendance included Opiyo Wandayi (Ugunja), Sam Atandi (Alego Usonga), Lilian Gogo (Rangwe) and EALA MP and former Bondo legislator Oburu Oginga.

Also present was Homa Bay Senator Moses Kajwang'.
