For years, Siaya Senator James Orengo has been known as a defender of opposition leader Raila Odinga and one of his most loyal allies.
He has been viewed as a man always ready to fight forces fighting Raila, which has in return made him very popular among the opposition chief's supporters, especially in Luo region.
He is currently considered a possible contestant for the Siaya gubernatorial race in the approaching 2022 elections, a dream that if realised, could to some extent undo their union.
Just as was the case in the 2017 elections where he won his senatorial re-election without campaigning or producing any campaign material, he is likely to win the top seat easily.
Raila will, therefore, have to begin adapting to a political life without the firebrand lawmaker who will be having more important things to do in the event that he vies and wins.
Unlike now that he is using his time to spread Raila's gospel, he will be very busy and will find close to no time to do the same as a county boss.
Orengo will have a whole county to run, county executives to deal with, projects to launch, deals to seal and national and international engagements.
This will limit him to serving Siaya, which will, in turn, deny Raila his services, meaning that the former premier will have to either prevent him from vying or prepare for life without Orengo.
If he decides to remain a defender of Raila, then Orengo alias Jimmy will have to avoid making controversial remarks as he has been doing.
This will be in line with his position, where he is not expected to make peace and promote unity and not declare political wars and announce impeachment bids.
This will slowly make him lose relevance, therefore making him less useful to Raila, which will make it easier for the likes of Rarieda lawmaker Otiende Amollo to take over.
