Politics is like gambling, one would try until his pockets run dry.

Whether he wins or loses, his mind still tells him that five years' period is not a long time. Despite failing, the politician still believes most people like him.

There are politicians who you wouldn't expect to still be in politics but believe it or not they are.

Here is a list of elderly Ukambani politicians who have vehemently refused to let go of their political ambitions:

1. Katatha Maweu

The immediate former Kangundo MP, Kyengo Katatha Maweu is 70 years old.

He was elected on a Tip Tip party in 2013 but lost his seat to the current MP Fabian Muli in 2017 where he came third following Rose Ndida closely.

Despite him losing the seat, Maweu makes sure he reminds Kangundo residents in every gathering that he will be vying for the same seat in 2022.

In one occasion, he even told them that they will regret for dethroning him.

Maweu calls himself "the Kangundo MP who is on leave" stating that he will resume his seat soon.

But honestly speaking, when is soon since in 2022 he will be 74 years old?

2. Moffat Maitha

Moffat Maitha was born in 1950.

Maitha was a teacher before he ventured into politics.

He became Kangundo Member of Parliament between 2002-2007.

Maitha lost the seat to former Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama in 2007.

In 2013, he tried his luck in the parliamentary race but failed.

In 2017 after a long battle with who will take the Jubilee ticket between Fridah Wendi and himself, Moffat vied for Matungulu West Ward as an MCA and won.

He once sat in the National Assembly, now he sits at the Machakos county assembly.

One thing for sure is that he will want to retain his seat in 2022, that's politics.

3. Harun Mwau

Harun Mwau is known to be among the wealthiest people in Ukambani.

Mwau is a former sharpshooter owning a chain of companies.

He vied for the presidency in 1992 and lost.

Mwau was elected as Kilome MP in 1997.

In 2013, he contested for Makueni senatorial seat but lost to the late Mutula Kilonzo.

Five months later, a by-election was held for the same seat and he again lost to Mutula's son Mutula Kilonzo Junior.

Mwau, therefore, goes into history for having lost senatorial elections to father and son in a span of five months.
