The presidential, gubernatorial and senatorial seats are among top positions politicians are eyeing in 2022.

Ukambani region has not been left out as Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua and former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka eye to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta who is serving his last term in office.

Kamba women politicians have not been left out in the succession politics.

Two weeks ago, Makueni Deputy Governor Adelina Mwau declared an interest to vie for the county's gubernatorial seat in 2022.

Mwau is eyeing to succeed Governor Kivutha Kibwana.

As presidential succession politics heats up, there is a likelihood of top Kamba female politicians being picked by top presidential aspirants as their running mates.

Here are three vocal female Kamba politicians who could be presidential running mates in the much anticipated 2022 presidential election.

1. Charity Ngilu

She is the Kitui governor serving her first term in office.

Ngilu was the first Kenyan woman to contest for the presidential seat in 1997 elections.

She is the NARC party leader and was part of veteran politicians who ganged up in 2002 to end retired President Daniel Arap Moi’s 24-year rule.

Ngilu’s chances of being picked as a presidential running mate in 2022 are high.

2. Rachel Nyamai

She is the Kitui South Member of Parliament serving her second term in office.

A critic of Governor Charity Ngilu, Nyamai is considered as a close ally and confidant of Deputy President William Ruto.

She ditched Ngilu’s NARC party in the run-up to the August 8 general election and joined Jubilee Party.

Nyamai is among few Kamba politicians who won seats in Ukambani on Jubilee party ticket in the 2017 general election.

The vocal politician could be a presidential running mate in 2022.

3. Wavinya Ndeti

She is the former Kathiani Member of Parliament.

Ndeti unsuccessfully contested for the Machakos gubernatorial seat in 2013 and 2017.

She has, however, remained optimistic of winning the seat in future general elections.

The former MP’s political popularity has risen steadily.

Political analysts note that she could be the next big political figure Ukambani.

Ndeti’s chances of being a presidential running mate in 2022 are also high.
