The traders led by Liverton Onyuri claimed that Nyagarama’s government has given a deaf ear to the traders' complaints.

“There are no toilets in the market for us to use yet we pay daily revenue to the county government. We want Nyagarama to move with spend and ensure the toilets are constructed, failure to which we will hold demonstrations to push the county to set up toilets at the market,” he said.

Mr Onyuri claimed that traders are forced to use bushes as toilets.

“We use bushes and tea farms as our toilets. All we want is the county to build toilets using the money we pay as daily revenue,” he added.

Immaculate Nyanchoka, another trader said county revenue collectors will not be allowed to collect revenue from the traders operating in the market from Monday next week if the county will not show any signs to set up the toilets.

“We will chase county revenue collectors from the market starting Monday next week if the county will not start constructing the toilets for us to use,” she said.

Mrs Nyanchoka called on traders not to be intimidated or blackmailed by anyone and be ready to go into the streets when asked to do so for the county to address their grievances.

The traders were speaking at Magombo market, Manga in Nyamira County on Wednesday morning.
