The incident happened at Nyabao village in West Mugirango, Nyamira County on Thursday.

Witnesses said trouble started when Lewis Nyabuto took a dig on food that had been served to his friend, Duke Orenge.

“We were attending a wedding and it was time to eat. Orenge was served ugali and meat but, Nyabuto who was yet to be served started eating Orange's food. Orenge was angered and insulted Nyabuto leading to the fight,” said Emmanuel Mose who witnessed the drama.

Mose added that Orenge and Nyabuto brazenly exchanged blows in the full glare of the public.

The wedding organisers led by Moriango Onduso intervened and stopped the two from fighting.

“We were yet to serve Nyabuto with food, unfortunately, he started eating Orenge’s food who was already served. They clashed while members of the public watched. We intervened and separated them from fighting before we served them with food afresh,” said Onduso.

Benjamin Keragori, area chief who was at the wedding condemned the two men saying it was shameful for them to fight over food.

“There was plenty of food and I didn’t understand why Orenge and Nyabuto decided to fight. Unnecessary fights will not be allowed to occur especially at weddings and funerals,” he said.
