Kisii County Police Commander Martin Kibet has broken his silence over the brutal murder of a 14-year-old girl at Maili Mbili, Kiong'anyo in Kisii County.
Kibet speaking at his office on Monday condemned the killing of Judy Sammy who until her death was a class 8 pupil at Kiong'anyo primary school.
"I learnt the brutal murder of Judy with a rude shock because she was a young dedicated girl who had a bright future. I want to assure residents and the family that the murderer must be brought to book," he said.
The police boss appealed to residents to remain calm and provide information to police which will help in arresting Judy's killer.
"I have instructed the chief Justus Omari to ensure any information provided to him by villagers is reported to police for necessary action," he stated.
The girl is said to have left home on Sunday evening to fetch goats from the grazing field when she was raped and murdered before her body dumped in a bush.
Her body was found on Monday morning after a night search.
