Tension is brewing in Ol-Pusimoru on the border of Narok and Nakuru counties after a house of former area MCA Wilson Masikonde was torched on Friday by a section of youths in the area in what is termed as a political rivalry.
Addressing the media, residents called for the government to ensure there is peace.
“Peace is paramount in this area, and that is why we said we will not retaliate but we are calling on the government to investigate the matter and the culprits of the heinous act are brought to book,” said David Sankale.
Masikonde claimed the house was torched by a section of youths who were sent by the current MCA Wilfred Kuyo.
He said the incident can only be linked to the election petition that he filed in the High court challenging the election of Kuyo.
The High court overturned Kuyo's win forcing him to move to the court of appeal.
“I have been a councilor of this area for many years and an MCA and we have not had issues but the incident of Friday I can just link it to the election petition that has been in court, it was ruled that we go back to elections and then my opponent moved to the court of appeal,” said Masikonde.
However speaking over the phone, Kuyo refuted the claims saying he had no hand in the incident.
Nakuru County Police Commander Hassan Rashid Barua who visited the area on behalf of Narok County Police Commander said investigations are on to ensure culprits of the heinous act are brought to book.
