Aburi was on Friday appointed to serve as a board member in the South Nyanza Sugar Company Limited in the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Irrigation.

According to the youth led by Douglas Ogari, the appointment is one of the most awaited rewards by the Gusii community.

"On behalf of youths supporting the Jubilee government from Kisii County, I wish to congratulate our President for rewarding Doris Aburi who resigned from her radio job and joined politics to serve common citizens," he said.

Mr Ogari said Aburi can't disappoint the Head of State because she is a hard working woman.

"Aburi's appointment marks the appreciation of the Gusii common woman in the Presidential appointments. Congratulations Doris," he noted.

His sentiments were reiterated by Jubilee youth Secretary General Isaac Motari, who said the appointment came at a time when it was most needed.

"Our sister will not be in the cold again after she lost women rep seat during the last year's poll. As youths, we are happy with President Uhuru Kenyatta and we expect more appointments in future," he said.

Aburi vied for the Kisii women representative seat in the 2017 polls under a Jubilee ticket but lost to ODM’s Janet Ong'era. She is among politicians who spearheaded Uhuru’s campaigns in the county.
