Mercy Kwamboka Lazarus was arrested in Mwongori village in Borabu Nyamira County.

She appeared before Keroka Resident Magistrate P.M Kimtai.

The court heard that the suspect has been selling chang'aa illegally in the village.

The prosecution further told the court that Kwamboka has been warned several times by police officers to stop engaging in the dubious businesses in vain.

Kwamboka pleaded not guilty and pleaded with the court to release her on bond claiming she is the sole bread winner in the family.

Magistrate Kimtai ordered she be released on a Sh300,000 bond pending the hearing and determination of the case.

The case will be mentioned on March 28, 2019.

Mr Kimtai also set the hearing of the case to be on June 19, 2019.

He warned residents against engaging in dubious businesses saying the court will not be lenient on illicit brew dealers and drug barons.
