A 32 year old from Igena Itambe area in Nyamira South Sub County on Wednesday met his death after a angry mob stoned and lynched him to death after he was allegedly found raping her three-months old daughter.

According to some of the agitated villagers who were interviewed, the man was found red handed during the act by his wife.

"His wife had gone to fetch firewood when she came back she found her husband raping the child and the child was bleeding and it's on that point that she screamed and when the agitated villagers arrived at the scene they started to stone him and finally set him into a blaze," said Gladys Kemuma a neighbor

Confirming the incident, area assistant Chief Edwin Obare said he was called by area village elder but upon arriving at the scene, the man had succumbed to injuries.

"I regret that the villagers decided to take action into their hands as it's unacceptable and the man identified as Jared Gichana met his death after he was found raping her daughter," said Obare

Obare further added that the Nyamira police are already investigating the matter as two key suspects who were involved in lynching the man have been arrested.

"The child was seriously bleeding and was rushed to Nyamira hospital where she is currently fighting for her life," said Obare

The chief warned locals against taking law into their hands and called upon them to report such incidents to the relevant authorities for action to be taken.

The body of the lynched man is currently preserved at Nyamira morgue.
