Gorasia is among top businessmen in the city with interests in real estate sector.

The businessman is said to have powerful political connections that allegedly saw the Mall being spared several times.

In 2013, Gorasia title ownership of the mall was revoked by the National Lands Commission after it emerged that the building was sitting on land meant for Airport expansion.

The businessman moved to court seeking orders to stop the building from being demolished as construction to of the Outering road started.

But who is Gorasia?

He was born and raised in Kenya in a wealthy family.

The mutli-billion businessman says he bought the 1.75 acre land on Outering road and constructed the 5.5 Billion Mall in 1991 upon approval by the government.

He owns a chain of companies majority in the real estate and farming sectors.

The Taj all owner allegedly has powerful political connections.

In 2013, the Taj Mall owner unsuccessfully contested for the Nairobi senatorial seat on Wiper Democratic Movement.

He lost the seat to Johnson Sakaja of Jubilee party. Gorasia said that his intention to contest was to protect investors from government's alleged cruelty.

He has spent many hours in court corridors fighting to prevent demolition of the multi-billion building.

Gorasia says that he will not move to court to seek compensation as the government issues notice to demolish the multi-billion mall.
