Kethi's name came to the limelight in 2013 when she represented a Non Governmental Organization in a presidential petition that had been filed by the then Cord leader Raila Odinga challenging President Uhuru Kenyatta's victory in 2012 General Elections.

She was praised and won admiration of many young Kenyans on her mastery of law principles and articulation of issues on the case at the Supreme Court.

Months after the Supreme Court battle, Kethi was in the news again after she declared interest to contest in the Makueni senatorial by-election.

This was after the mysterious death of his father, Mutula Kilonzo who was the then Senator for Makueni.

Kethi’s political interest was, however, short-lived after she quit the race to succeed her late father.

The vocal lawyer claimed that she could not contest against her step-mother who had also declared interest in the by-election.

Kethi was  also barred from vying for the Makueni senatorial by-election after IEBC claimed that she was not a registered voter.

The lawyer has since then remained silent only concentrating on her legal work at his late father's law firm, Mutula and Company Advocates.

However, Kethi can make another political stab in 2022 polls if she wishes.

According to political analyst Peter Ngure, Kethi is the kind of leaders Ukambani people need moving forward.

Ngure observes that the young lawyer's confidence, legal understanding and heart for the people can make her a good politician and leader.

“Kethi should consider joining active politics because she has the much needed attributes,” Ngure says.

He spoke to this writer in Nairobi on Saturday.

There are claims that Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana could be grooming Kethi as his 2022 successor.

Kethi has, however, not hinted on whether she is ready to join active politics ahead of the much awaited 2022 polls.
