Deputy President William Ruto has suffered a major blow after an elected member of parliament dumped him.
Kitutu Chache South MP Richard Onyonka made a u-turn on Saturday, saying DP Ruto’s allies are a 'disgrace'.
Mr Onyonka revealed that the recent withdrawal of bodyguards attached to DP Ruto close allies is an indication that he is surrounded with cartels thus he can’t continue being in a camp where corruption is at the peak.
“We have always been hearing that DP Ruto and his allies are corrupt. I want to confirm that since I am not corrupt, I will not continue being in a corrupt camp,” noted Onyonka.
Onyonka who decamped from former Prime Minister Raila Odinga led ODM party to Ford Kenya Party during the 2017 polls, challenged DP Ruto to clean up his camp if he intends to be president in 2022.
“The cartels surrounding him (Ruto) need to be kicked out so that his name can be cleared from corruption otherwise making it to State house in 2022 will be an uphill task for him,” said Onyonka.
He was speaking at Nyakoe on his way to Mosocho on Saturday evening. The MP lost his cousin Captain Mario Magonga, a long time pilot of DP Ruto.
