Raila, who had accompanied other leaders including President Uhuru Kenyatta, his deputy as well Namibia’s President Hage Geingob, received a thunderous welcome from the crowd.

First, it was when Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya introduced available guests.

When he mentioned the name of the former Prime Minister, the crowd went wild with cheers.

The situation was the same when the Deputy President invited Raila to the microphone.

In his usual tales, Raila regaled the guests on his journey to the now popular handshake.

Raila said together with Kalonzo, Musalia and Wetangula they were committed to taking Kenyans to the promised land of milk and honey: Canaan!

The charming politician said they were unable to reach Canaan ‘because there was a crocodile at River Jordan’.

“We decided to come together and build a bridge (handshake) to take us all to Canaan,” he said amid laughter from the audience.
