Speaking on Saturday in Garissa during a graduation ceremony at the North Eastern Polytechnic, the Garissa Township legislator stated that there was a need to reign in all child predators following the latest hue and cry over the increasing number of pregnant schoolgirls.

Duale pointed out that he will propose stern amendments to the Njoki Ndung’u laws, to provide for castration as the only punishment for anybody found to have impregnating a school girl.

"It is very sad and shameful for school girls having to sit for their examinations with pregnancies. We are all to blame, including religious leaders because we have failed in our moral duties. I will propose an amendment to the so-called Njoki Ndung'u laws to have culprits castrated,” Duale said.

Even as the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams continue, more girls are being reported to be taking their papers at delivery wards, a thing that has sparked outrage among education stakeholders.
