Former Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa deserves fair treatment and fair hearing, former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has said. According to the senator, Echesa’s woes are politically instigated.
In a message through his official twitter account on Wednesday, Khalwale noted that the embattled former CS is a victim of circumstances following his sacking by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The former senator, who hails from the same county with Echesa, feels he should have been given fair chance for justice before being fired from office.
Khalwale, who has endorsed the candidature of Deputy President William Ruto in 2022, insists that Echesa ought to have been presented with facts and not rumors before being fired by the Head of State.
He also feels Africa Union High Representative on Infrastructure Development Raila Amolo Odinga has a hand in the woes facing Echesa since he took over office.
On his part, Echesa believes he was fired because of his support to the second in command. During an interview with a local daily, Echesa said that his support for Ruto cost his job.
Raila’s allies have, however, asked him to accept the fact that he is no longer in cabinet and move on. Led by Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala, the leaders have asked Echesa not to continue attacking Raila.
