Citing articles 147 and 134 of the constitution, the former legislators dismissed allegations that Ruto had been sidelined in the Jubilee administration.

He argues that the DP is the principal assistant to the President and deputizes him in the execution of his duties and, as such, he cannot hold any other public office.

He was reacting to reports that Ruto’s powers might have been clipped in the new appointment of Dr. Matiang’i to lead executive operations and implementation of the big four agenda.

Through his twitter account, Khwalwale asked the media to avoid misinterpreting the constitution through sensational reportage.

His sentiments were echoed by Amani National Congress party leader Musalia Mudavadi who said the president’s appointment of Interior CS Fred Matiang’I to head government projects is constitutional and was done in good faith.

Other leaders who have supported the appointment of DR. Matiang’I include Muranga County Women representative and her HomaBay counterpart Gladys Wanga.

Khalwale is currently championing and advancing Ruto’s 2022 political ambitions, particularly in western Kenya despite being warned by his party and other local leaders.
