Mlolongo is among the towns in Kenya where commercial sex thrive.
This town located along the busy Nairobi-Mombasa highway in Machakos County is known for commercial sex escapades, twilight girls here do everything to remain in the illicit trade.
There are claims that some of the sex workers operating in Mlolongo town milk their clients' sperms and take them to witch-doctors.
Here, it is the survival of the fittest as the prostitutes compete for customers.
In this small but busy town, urchins don’t joke with stingy clients who refuse to pay for services.
Cases of stingy clients being beaten up and assaulted have been reported here.
Here are four things Mlolongo sex workers do to clients who refuse to pay for services:
1. Lock them in toilets
Mlolongo sex workers have confessed that they sometimes lock their clients in toilets in lodgings as punishment for refusing to pay.
They also stuff them under the tiny lodging beds as punishment.
2. Pick their valuables
Sex workers result in picking valuables like phones, wrist watches, ID cards, ATM cards, tablets, shoes, belts and even clothes of clients who refuse to pay.
“We don’t care whether they go home naked or not but once a client refuses to pay for the service, he faces tough punishment,” Mercy [the second name withheld], a sex worker said.
Mlolongo's commercial sex workers sometimes beat up clients who refuse to pay. Such clients are slapped and assaulted for failing to honor the deal.
“We are in business and whoever brings silly jokes like failing to pay is dealt with accordingly,” Mercy said.
Mercy stated that it is a common rule for sex workers to alert her colleagues once a client becomes rude and refuses to pay.
4. Report them to police
Mlolongo sex workers report to police cases where clients refuse to pay and end up assaulting them.
The sex workers, however, say reporting to police never works since the officers' abuse and turn them away.
They claim that the officers also demand to taste the ‘goodies’ whenever they report cases to them.
“It is a difficult world where we are left with no option but to fight four our survival,” Stella [the second name withheld, a sex worker said.
The sex workers, however, called on the security agencies to guarantee them of their safety as they do their trade.
In the recent days, there have been reports of sex workers being abducted and later found murdered by suspicious clients.
