The fans will not now pay for the matches as they witness Harambee Stars battle for the coveted trophy in Cairo Egypt. The matches are expected to kick off on June 21.

Kenyans without access to paid channels have been handed reprieve following the development. Cabinet Secretary for Information and Communications (ICT), Joseph Mucheru has confirmed the news.

He said that the government wants to bring the games to Kenyans at the comfort of their couches during this period.  He also said that the process of acquiring the permit to air the games was not easy for the National Broadcaster.

“We want to bring something that will create more excitement, the Africa Cup of Nations tournament is set to put Kenya in the continental map giving that the fact Harambee Stars are participating, this is with the full support of the President Uhuru Kenyatta,” Mucheru declared.

The National Team is currently undertaking its training in Paris, France. The team will play its first match on Sunday, June 23 against Algeria.  The other teams in Group C, where Kenya has been placed are Tanzania and Senegal.
