Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has reconstituted all the seven water service providers in the county and appointed new members.

Surprisingly, most of the appointed members are Maendeleo Chap Chap party losers who contested for various political positions across the county in the August 8, 2017's elections.

Thomas Kasoa, the former minority leader in Machakos county assembly has been appointed the chairman of the Machakos Town Water and Sewerage Service provider.

The Yatta/Masinga Water and Sewerage provider will now be headed by Joshua Mwanga, the immediate former majority leader of the Machakos county assembly.

In Kathiani sub-county, Frank Makola has been appointed to head the water provider there.

He unsuccessfully contested for the Kathiani parliamentary seat on MCC party ticket in the last polls.

Mutua announced the appointments outside his office accompanied by his deputy Francis Maliti and water CEC Naomi Mutie on Wednesday.

Philip Kilonzo has been appointed to head the tricky Mavoko Water and Sewerage Services which comes under intense pressure to provide adequate water in the industrial town.

Kilonzo unsuccessfully contested for the Mavoko parliamentary seat on Maendeleo Chap Chap party ticket in 2017.

Mutua said his government has sunk and rehabilitated over 417 boreholes of which 330 are solar powered.

He added that his administration is also piping water to reach all households in the long run and has just concluded the 100,000 cubic meter Nthungululu dam in Ndalani, Yatta sub-county.

Matungulu and Kangundo Water Services boards will now be chaired by Daniel Nginga who lost in the Matungulu parliamentary race on the same ticket.

Maendeleo Chap Chap party was founded by Mutua as its leader.

Mwala sub-county water service board will be chaired by Stephen Musyoki.
