Kori was freed by a Kiambu court on Thursday evening, in what the court said was due to lack of evidence.

He was facing allegations of participating in the murder of his wife Mary Wambui alongside his lover Judy Wangui last month.

Fresh details indicate that he was released from the Muthaiga Police Station after the prosecution failed to link him to the crime, weeks after he was named a chief suspect in the case.

This leaves Wangui and Michael Mathenge, a tour company operator as the main suspects.

Mathenge had initially admitted to having helped Wangui dispose of the body of the deceased in Juja after she allegedly blackmailed him.

A postmortem on Wambui's remains revealed that she was hit by a blunt object, with the police believing that the accused used a pressure cooker to hit her in the head repeatedly.

Mathenge and Wangui are expected to be arraigned in court to face murder charges on Wednesday, next week.

Two other women have since come out to claim that they were at some point in a romantic relationship with Kori.
