Governor Alfred Mutua said they will start by recovering land meant for the Mavoko Stadium in Athi River and other parcels in Machakos town.

"Some of the grabbed public lands was stolen by prominent Kenyans including serving and former senators, MPs, MCA's, councilors and senior government officials, " Mutua said.

Mutua, flanked by his deputy Francis Maliti addressed the press outside his office in Machakos town on Wednesday.

He lamented that as a result of these illegal and corrupt acts, his government is struggling to get land to build hospitals, schools, polytechnics, youth centers, stadia and government offices.

Mutua at the same time warned the culprits against resisting saying the mood in the country has changed and impunity will not be tolerated anymore.

"I urge them to surrender the parcels honorably without resisting because, in one way or another, we will get it back," Mutua added.

He said we now have a new Kenya where the political will to fight graft and impunity has reached astronomical levels and the majority of Kenyans are fully supporting the initiative.
