Political analyst Ambrose Weda now claims that most of the promises that were given by President Uhuru Kenyatta during his recent tour of Luo Nyanza region will not be realized.

Uhuru was on Thursday and Friday hosted by opposition leader Raila Odinga in his Luo Nyanza backyard, a tour that saw them hold joint public addresses in Kisumu and Siaya counties.

But in an interview on KBC English Service's 'The Big Conversation' Wednesday morning, Weda claimed that the trip was a publicity stunt to impress opposition supporters.

This, he added, was a plan by Uhuru to achieve his unity legacy as Raila sought to give the impression that the region is closer to the President and the seat of power.

"This was a good move for the people who were supposedly to be taken to Canaan before they met crocodiles at the river.

"The plan was to convince them that bridges are being made to overcome the crocodiles," he said.

"However, the bad part is that most of the promises made in the tour by the President do not hold any water and are not backed by budgetary allocations," he added.

In Kisumu, for instance, the President hinted at initiating a constitutional amendment for the elimination of the winner takes it all system.

The system, he said, has left a section of the nation feeling isolated and excluded from government.

This might call for a referendum which will gobble up billions of shillings, but has not been included in the current budget.
