In the report that also saw the county's absorption rate questioned, Edward Ouko argues that the county is among the most wasteful in terms of prudence in resource management.

"The county procured Sh8. 5 million hospital washing machine at a price almost ten times the actual amount that it costs in market.

"In 2016/17, the county only absorbed Sh1.97 billion of the Sh5 billion budgeted for by the treasury. A lot is not adding up," it reads.

On Friday, the report elicited sharp reactions from locals with some accusing governor John Nyagarama of gross incompetence.

Some called for prosecution of officers in charge of departments affected by massive graft as exposed by the Auditor General.

"It's just few years they built Sh7 million gate and now they are buying washing machine at an exaggerated price," said Baba Otongoro.

David Ogwagwa added: "We shall revisit. These people must account for money lost. We can't live like this."
