In the statement posted on the Friends of Karura Forest Facebook page, the management said there was no need for joggers and bikers to worry as pythons are shy and harmless unless provoked.

A picture of the python which was spotted and photographed by FKF chief scout John Chege has been doing rounds on social media, creating fear among frequent users of the facility.

In their statement, the forest's management further advised individuals planning to visit the facility to stay in designated trails and avoid wondering off to avoid meeting the reptiles.

The statement has elicited mixed reactions among Kenyans, with some still expressing concerns despite the assurance that the snake was harmless.

Some have vowed to keep off the facility until they are sure the reptile has been captured while others joked about how they would meet the python.
