Speaking on Monday during the NTV Sasa Show, Ms Wanga begged the Judiciary to help women in fight against gender-based violence.

"Judiciary inafaa itusaidie.

This loosely translate to: "Judiciary needs to help us in that when you are taken there, sometimes it shouldn't give you bail. You should stay there for people to know that, that is a mistake. However, when you are taken there and you are give a bail of 50,000, 20,000 or sometimes released on a free bond to walk out free, no one will know that assaulting a woman is a mistake."

Ms Wanga was speaking at a time gender based violence has heightened in the country. Last week, Wajir Women Rep Fatuma Gedi got assaulted by her colleague Wajir East Member of Parliament Rashid Kassim over a disagreement in budget allocation.

Before that Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko had attacked Nairobi Women Rep Esther Passaris during the Madaraka Day celebrations.

These incidences have proven beyond doubt that our leaders are not adhering to the code of conduct.
