Speaking on Milele FM’s ‘Kivumbi’, Tuesday morning, the former Uasin Gishu gubernatorial hopeful bashed the government for hoodwinking Kenyans before its 2013 election and re-election in 2017.

Basing on Jubilee’s vow to elevate the nation’s economy before coming to power, Buzeki condemned the President Uhuru Kenyatta-led administration of instead killing the economy.

This, he said, is the reason behind its current rush to tax Kenyans to cover for its debts and development, after destroying the economy and making it unable to cater for the nation’s financial needs.

‘’Inasikitisha kwamba walisema wataboresha uchumi lakini sasa wameiharibu na wamerudia wananchi walewale ili kuwatoza ushuru mkubwa (it is sad that the government is back to the citizens for more taxes after failing to better the economy),’’ he said.

With the President having since rejected a parliamentary proposal seeking to quash the tax and postpone it, proposing the reduction of the current taxing to 8 per cent instead, Buzeki proposed a complete removal of the taxing.

‘’Hatutaki hata hiyo asilimia nane. Ni wakati wa wabunge kusimama na wakenya na kukataa mapendekezo hayo ya Rais (I call upon parliamentarians to rubbish the whole tax increment idea in whole),’’ he added.

Buzeki lost his bid to incumbent Governor Jackson Mandago.
