It is now evident the bromance President Uhuru Kenyatta and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga struck up in March has moved to another level.

During their last week's joint tour of Nyanza region, the duo repeatedly referred to each other as 'brother', a sign they have buried the hatchet after many decades of political rivalry.

The close working relationship has sparked speculations that they could be strategising to work together in the next general election.

To cement this, Luo leaders have reportedly asked Uhuru to endorse his 'brother' Raila for President in 2022 and in return be appointed for the proposed prime minister position.

However, the new arrangement has already faced opposition as some politicians such as former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo have dismissed it, saying the mandate of choosing who will rule Kenya lies in the hands of the citizens.

"You guys got it all wrong. Kenya is not about dishing political positions. That’s not a matter of the Luo community but the Kenya public. Period," he tweeted on Monday.

Controversial lawyer Miguna Miguna has also waded into the debate and termed the alleged Luo-Kikuyu political deal as 'primitive'.

"This is pure primitivity. Kenya is not a private ESTATE belonging to @UKenyatta and @RailaOdinga. Leadership of a country cannot be determined by ethnic meetings between two or more families with cheering brainless sycophants," Miguna posted.
