Those involved in logistics had to be cunning enough to ensure that no harm came to the son of the soil, Barrack Obama.

An aspect of security preparations was the playing of games with journalists to keep them guessing.

Here is how Mr Obama played games with Kenyan journalists:

1. No journalists were allowed at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport with the intention of preventing them from knowing the particular vehicle he would be moving in.

2. The exact timeline of his activities in the country including his arrival was a closely guarded affair.

3.  Scores of vehicles were part of the convoy making it difficult for journalists to point out the particular vehicle that he was in.

3. The cars forming part of his convoy came in batches and not all at once, making it difficult for anyone to point out the particular batch that the former president was in.

Here is what Garissa residents had to say about Obama's games:

"This was very necessary. Those handling his security did very well," Jamal Osman said.

"I think it was just too much. Common, it's not like a terrorist would attack him," Korane Abdi said.

"The message that sent was that Kenya is an insecure place which is just wrong. I am disappointed," Gulo Ruke said.

"No one wants anything to happen to him. It would be a disaster if any harm came to him," Barakat Sudho said.
