With Deputy President William Ruto undoubtedly headed for the presidency in the approaching 2022 general polls, he might have to exit the political arena in 2032, after the completion of his second and constitutionally last term.

Though he might decide to remain around and will obviously still have a great say in his Kalenjin backyard politics, he will have to pave way for another leader to represent the great Kalenjin people, with a number of politicians already warming up on the touchline.

These include the likes of Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, whose support for Ruto's policies and pending bid for State House is undoubted and is actually the most likely to take after the DP.

Murkomen's position as the Senate Majority Leader has given him the elevation and platform he needs to popularize himself, making him currently Ruto's mouthpiece and judging by the Kenyan political trend, that's what the masses want to see.

His political moves, including his Thursday's intervention in the ongoing Mau Forest evictions, will further make him a darling among the people, making him the best for the slot.

Also, his closeness to Ruto will most probably see him endorsed to take over, with Ruto seemingly mentoring him to come after him.

Lastly, he is not facing any serious competition from the remaining leaders, with his most likely challenger being his Baringo counterpart Gideon Moi whose silence and supremacy battles with Ruto is seemingly ruining him.
