Speaking on Tuesday during an interview on Milele FM, Governor Waititu maintained his proposal to have the rivers diverted.

The host of the show challenged Waititu that even the President himself had said he is willing to lose more friends if fighting impunity in the country will make them leave.

Waititu responded by saying that what the President said over the demolition of structures on riparian land was not his thoughts.

In English, it loosely translates to: "These things were brought up by other people and not President Uhuru Kenyatta himself. They came up with these, giving the President a wrong information which is not good. They need to investigate the matter and involve all stakeholders in it."

The Kiambu Governor concluded that he has gone places, outside the country, which has enabled him to see how a river can be guided to different directions.

He said it is only the source of the river which cannot be tampered with, and not its flow.
