Kisii County Deputy Governor Joash Maangi is facing difficult times in his bid to succeed his boss Governor James Ongwae in 2022 after area Women Representative Janet Ong'era endorsed Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati for the county's top seat.

Ong'era, while speaking in Bobasi, Kisii County threw her weight behind the vocal MP saying he is fit to succeed Governor James Ongwae in 2022.

"I am sure MP Arati will continue cementing the foundation Governor Ongwae has started. Everything will be well once Arati takes over," she noted.

According to the lawmaker, Arati who doubles as the Gusii community spokesman is capable of representing the people of Kisii County in 2022 once Governor Ongwae retires.

Ong'era's endorsement now throws Maangi off the balance given that Maangi has declared interest to vie for the Kisii governorship seat.

Maangi will have to reach out to other remaining MPs in the county and MCAs to seek their endorsement ahead of the 2022 gubernatorial race.

MP Arati who has an influence in Nairobi politics is expected to give Mr. Maangi a run for his money.
