Mutua was kicked out of the committee where he had presented himself alongside his Deputy Francis Maliiti to respond to audit queries.

The committee  chair Moses Kajwang' was forced to send Mutua way as he arrived without  documents relating to  how the county spent Sh7 billion in 2014/2015 FY.

Mutua told the committee that he had supplied the documents in 2017 when he appeared before the same committee.

However, the Kajwang led committee demanded fresh documents forcing Mutua away.

Here is what Machakos residents said on social media platforms about the incident:

“@Governor Mutua should get serious for once and respond to financial queries,” Solomon  Kitheka said.

“Why is Governor Mutua evading, audit queries, he must come clean,” Justice stated

.“@Governor Mutua stop playing hide and seek with audit queries, we need answers,” Evans Mwanzia said.

“What is Mutua trying to hide, @ODPP @ EACC, he should be the next on the list,” Kevin Muthama said.

“Delay tactics, they will work against him, his better watch out,” Joseph Ndutu stated.

Governor Mutua is no stranger to controversy relating to senate committee summons.

In 2016, Mutua disobeyed the same committee summons but was later forced to appear before it.

The embattled governor is facing  hard political  times  with his career hanging in balance after the court of appeal nullified his election on grounds that it was not free and fair.

Mutua appealed the nullification in the Supreme Court.
