Going into the by-election, the ODM candidate has become increasingly unpopular and the graft allegations haunting him have further left him on the edge. And as such, he will easily be floored by his rival, former Kasipul MP Oyugi Magwanga.

So what options does ODM party have to keep Magwanga at bay and ensure that the party retains the seat? Well, the outfit will have to field a strong candidate even if it means dropping Awiti.

Area Woman Representative Gladys Wanga may be the ideal candidate to take on Magwanga in case Awiti throws in the towel and decides not to go to the Supreme Court.

In Wanga, the party will have a formidable candidate who has a huge following in the grassroots where she is said to be laying ground for the 2022 election.

With Wanga and the former lawmaker facing off, the contest will be too close to call. However, riding on the party's popularity in the region, the vocal MP will triumph and at least save former Prime Minister Raila Odinga from being humiliated in his own turf.
