During the meeting which was held at the Governor’s office in Kisumu, they discussed coming up with collaborative measures between the County Government of Kisumu and KRA in a bid to expand revenue collection territories in Lakeside County.

“The basis of this visit is to initiate collaboration between Kisumu County and KRA in a bid to boost revenue collection in the county by enhancing seamless revenue collection in the market,” indicated part of a statement released by the Governor’s Press unit.

According to the Statement, the collaboration will go a long way in ensuring unidentified revenue collection streams identified for revenue collection among them land rates, properties and business premises.

Also in attendance was Kisumu County Deputy Governor Mathews Owili who urged KRA to assist Governor Nyong’o’s administration in curbing ‘unnecessary’ importation of fish, especially from China.

Francis Muthaura is the former Head of Civil Service and Secretary to the Cabinet.

He served under retired President Mwai Kibaki. He was appointed Chairman of the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) in May last year.
