A veteran business man has revealed how he worked tirelessly to convince the two leaders to agree to meet.

“I made a phone call to Raila while he was in Tanzania on the 1st day of March 2018, I explained to him how the country was almost being thrown into a political conflict that was as a result of his supporters clashing with president Uhuru’s supporters: that is when I told him the essence of having a handshake,” said Mr. Paul Kobia, a well known businessman.

Speaking on Radio Jambo’s Mazungumzo Waziwazi show on Wednesday evening, Mr.Kobia narrated how he also approached president Uhuru about the same and the president expressed full willingness to talk to Raila.

Mr. Kobia added that after a week full of discussions alongside other undisclosed dignitaries, the two leaders eventually agreed to meet.

“So I am not afraid to say it here that I championed for the handshake and played a huge role to restore political calmness in the country,” he added.

The business man urged all the leaders to embrace the handshake by preaching peace everywhere and avoiding abusive politics.
