On Tuesday, EACC raided his Migori and Nairobi homes where a total of eight firearms were recovered hidden under unclear circumstances.

The EACC team handed over the guns to DCI to establish whether they were all licensed or not and the lastest arrest is a proof that authorities have issues with them.

The anti-graft team believes that Mr Obado swindled close to Sh2 billion using 23 bank accounts some owned by his close relatives and friends since 2013.

Detectives said that besides the eight firearms, they managed to recover crucial documents in the houses, buoyed by suspicious bank transactions.

The Migori County boss on Saturday, while accompanying deputy president William Ruto to Kemera in Nyamira, seemingly blamed ODM leader Raila Odinga over his tribulations.

"Please pray for me. The crocodile might bite me. I need you in this journey," he said, in reference to Raila's metaphorical crocodile remarks.

But a section of ODM leaders led by treasurer Timothy Bosire, accused him of dragging Raila's name unnecessary into his political and social struggles.

"The governor should stop dragging other people to his woes. Let him fight the wars objectively with authorities," he said.

Mr Obado spent 34 days in prison after he was linked to the death of his girlfriend Sharon Otieno and was released on Sh5 million bond.

Among tough conditions he must abide by before full trial of the case in May 2019 include not coming any close to 20km from Migori-Homa Bay border and avoiding any contact with the deceased's family.

The latest arrest would see him again battling with the state over possible illegal possession of firearms, similar charges tycoon Jimmy Wanjigi is battling in court.
