On Saturday, Kuria, a former critic of Raila and the Nyanza nation, was given heroic welcome in the lakeside city.

Kuria traversed Kisumu CBD and held roadside meetings with jubilant locals who chanted pro-Uhuru Kenya and Raila slogans.

This is the second tour by the controversial legislator to Nyanza region given that in April, he was among leaders who toured a local church in Homa Bay.

"I visited Jakom (Raila) last Sunday and he sent me here to spread message of peace and reconciliation.

"I took time to visit this wonderful city of Kisumu with friendly people. I am very happy and pleased to be here," he said.

Later, Kuria, a close confidant of President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to attend a church fundraiser in Nyakach before attending homecoming for ICT PS Jerome Ochieng.
