Opposition leader Raila Odinga enjoys so much support in his Luo Nyanza bedrock to an extent that his endorsement is considered a win guarantee in the elective seats the region has to offer.

Scramble for his backing and his Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) is likely to be witnessed in the approaching 2022 polls, as hopefuls seek to outdo their rivals and secure a win in their preferred slots.

But there exists a number of politicians who will not need the same but will only seek it for the sake of it, a good example being Kisumu Governor Peter Anyang' Nyong'o.

The governor has been hailed for a job well done since he took office, and has as well managed to avoid supremacy battles with either his Deputy Mathews Owilli and Members of the County Assembly.

This added to his recent ranking as the best compared to his counterparts manning the two other cities has raised hopes in his constituents, who will reelect him hoping for more development and political calm.

Also in the same league is Siaya Senator James Orengo who is actually deemed to be eyeing the gubernatorial seat currently in the hands of Governor Cornelius Rasanga.

His closeness to Raila, political activeness and good leadership will make his bid a straight pass, and will only need to declare his candidature and let rest fall in place.

Actually, he never campaigned in the previous 2017 elections and neither did he produced any campaign materials but went right ahead to carry the day.

Coming third, are the Olago Aluoch and Shakeel Shabbir duo who are manning the Kisumu West and East constituencies respectively.

Aluoch is on his third time and has been elected on the rival Ford Kenya ticket for the last two, meaning that he doesn't need Raila at all.

On the other hand, is the Indian lawmaker Shabbir whose good job saw him win as an independent candidate after missing out on the ODM ticket in the 2017 elections.

He too will not be needing either the ODM ticket or Raila's blessings if he can keep up the good job the people love him for.
