Although Sunday's meeting between ex-US President Barack Obama and ODM leader Raila Odinga had limited access, Winnie Odinga was one of the few known people who attended.

Ms. Odinga, Raila's youngest daughter, is now making often presence in his father's high profile meetings.

While her presence in NASA campaigns was also felt in 2017, a source privy to Raila's political maneuvers says the former PM is grooming his daughter for a political office.

"She is now being elevated within the family ranks and played a key role in her father's campaigns.

"In fact, he is introducing him to national politics thus decision to take her along to Obama's meeting," said the source, who spoke in confidence.

Other than Obama's meeting, Winnie was also in his father's delegation to Winnie Mandela's funeral in South Africa.

With Rosemary Odinga confined to bed due to an illness, Raila's only hope to carry on his political legacy remains only Winnie.

In fact, journalist John Onyando, in his book, Failed Quest for Electoral Justice, specifically points at at Winnie as the one to blame for wrangles withing Raila's 2017 campaign.

Rosemary, prior to her illness, was warming for Kibra Constituency seat.

As part of introducing her to the world of politics, Raila also took Winnie along with him to Harambee House, wher he signed historic deal with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
