Depot manager Herman Munga admitted that tankers were loaded with water but asked the public to maintain calm as they carry on with investigations.

"We are investigating the issue to determine what might have gone wrong in the loading section of the company," Munga said, Tuesday.

"We have received the complaints and called back all the trucks that were affected by the error and we will establish what went wrong," he added.

The bizarre incident happened on Tuesday after some tank drivers noticed that they were carrying water, not fuel.

"I realized I was carrying water when I had already left the depot," one of the drivers who sought anonymity said.

The driver then raised an alarm with the management of the company who responded immediately and recalled back all tankers that had left with the liquid.

The Kisumu depot manager, however, clarified other brands of the company were not affected by the error and noted the institution was concerned on the effects the error would have had on the public.

The management has called upon all drivers to remain vigilant as the investigation goes on.
