Mr Omar, formerly in ODM before joining Wiper in 2013, was Raila's staunch supporter and human rights activist.

Dennis Onyango, the Personal Secretary to Raila said: "Today H. E Raila Odinga met with former Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar at his Capitol Hill offices."

"The two leaders discussed development in the country and peace. Omar reiterated need to support handshake and inclusiveness in national politics."

After 2017 controversial elections which were nullified by Supreme Court, Omar, a staunch critic of Jubilee administration, pulled a shocker when he joined President Uhuru Kenyatta's team.

Throughout the campaigns for repeat elections, Omar led the president's campaigns in the coastal strip.

But despite his commitment, Jubilee administration has not rewarded him as part of the promise made to him and other coastal leaders.

Mr Omar's meeting with Raila lasted for one hour and the two are said to have also discussed the future of coast politics.

He unsuccessfully vied for Mombasa gubernatorial seat in which he lost to Hassan Joho.
